On-line Business Registration |

The Idaho
Business Registration Form is now available on-line in electronic
format. This form is used by the Idaho Industrial Commission, the Idaho
State Tax Commission, and Department of Commerce & Labor as a one-stop way to register
as an Idaho employer.

Exemptions in Proprietorships |
 |
Some family member employees in sole proprietorships are exempt under strict
guidelines based on Idaho law. Here is a chart indicating the relationships
exempt under Idaho Code. Click on the chart to view a full-sized version in
Adobe Acrobat. If a family member who is eligible for the exemption does
not live in the employer's home, the employee must file an
IC-53 form with the Industrial
Commission.

Self-Insurance |
 |
Employers may insure themselves for workers' compensation under
guidelines in state law. The basic requirements are included in the
Administrative Rules of the Idaho Industrial Commission
(takes you to the Department of Administration website). Go to section
.014 "Rules Governing Self-Insured Employers" for full details.
Self-insuring employers must also conform with the other requirements of a
workers' compensation insurer.
If you feel your company meets the requirements and you wish to apply to
self-insure, complete the Application
and Supplemental for submission to
the Industrial Commission.

Rates |
 |
The Idaho State Insurance Fund has published their
workers' compensation
insurance rates per $100 of payroll. Please note that your insurer may
charge more or less than the State Insurance Fund for comparable insurance.

Reporting Injuries |
 |
If a work-related injury or illness results in lost work
time or requires medical treatment, that injury or illness must be reported
to the Idaho Industrial Commission. This is done with a First Report of
Injury or Illness form.
The form can be downloaded here:
The Microsoft Word form can be filled out and emailed as an
attachment to froi@iic.idaho.gov.

Rehabilitation services |
 |
The Industrial Commission offers
rehabilitation services to Idaho workers injured on the job. We have
rehabilitation staff in our ten field offices and
our Boise location. Rehabilitation professionals can help workers get back
to work after a disabling injury or illness.
 |
Election of Coverage |
 |
Even though they may be exempt under the law, owners, corporate officers,
board members, and others may elect to have workers' compensation
coverage on themselves. They must file an
IC-52 form with the Industrial Commission when electing coverage or
revoking that election of coverage.
Instructions for the form are available.

Across state lines |
 |
The state of Idaho has signed agreements with several states in
the region that allow Idaho employers to maintain Idaho workers'
compensation coverage for employees working across state lines. These are
known as reciprocity agreements.
The Industrial Commission can issue an extraterritorial certificate for
Idaho employers. You can
request this by email. You can also call the Industrial Commission at
208-334-6000 and ask for Employer Compliance. We need the following
information:
- Requestor's name, position, telephone number and e-mail
address.
- The name and address of the employer, the legal entity (i.e. sole
proprietorship, partnership, corporation), and a description of the type
of business operated by the employer.
- The employer's Idaho workers' compensation insurance company, policy
number and effective date.
- The state where the employees will be working.
- The effective date of the extraterritorial certificate.
